The Video That Took My Name Around The World
July 13,2014 was a pivotal day in my life. Just a day before I was on the phone with my mother sharing some of the things the Lord had inspired me to preach during a series I had been sharing at my church. She said it reminded her of an analogy she had used the day before. After she shared HER analogy, this one dropped on my heart. It was similar to hers But in a number of ways it was different. So that Sunday after church, I created this video that demonstrated what I had seen in my heart only a day before.
It was unrehearsed, with no script. I just shared it the best way I could. I used social cam to post it on facebook and youtube. Next thing I knew, the video went VIRAL! I was contacted by people, literally around the world. People sent me message after message either thanking me for such a word of encouragement for the moment when they were just about to give up, or asking me to pray for them. Thousands of friend requests began to pour in. It became overwhelming. Sadly some people were offended because I couldn't answer all of the messages and still do the everyday things that I needed to do like take care of my kids,run my business, or even SLEEP. People wanted me to be on call 24 hours a day. I learned very quickly that it wasn't possible.
I had to come to grips with the fact that my name, my face and my voice had gone to places I had never imagined. I am fairly new to my city (I've only been there a year). But it was unnerving to walk into the bank or to the doctor's office and people say HEY YOU'RE THE WATER BOTTLE GUY. But what God had declared about me back when i was 12 years old, was happening. He was making my name great. I had to learn that He doesn;t mind making YOUR name great as long as you are committed to giving HIM the glory.
I am writing this to encourage someone right now, you may feel useless or even hopeless. But you simply have to trust that God has a plan for you. Totally surrendering to Him (trusting the safety and surety of His hand can be challenging at times). But the bible says in Psalm 37:5-6
5-6 Open up before God, keep nothing back; he’ll do whatever needs to be done: He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon.
